Plant a Garden

July 31, 2019August 8, 2021Leave a comment

Have you ever stood in line at a home improvement store in the springtime spinning the display wheel full of garden seeds? So many options…a vegetable garden with the makings for a salad, or maybe pumpkins for Halloween. Or wait, it could be a flower garden. Hearing, “next!” you are startled out of your reverie … Continue reading Plant a Garden

Future Dreaming vs. Daydreaming

Here you sit in the present moment in touch with your reality, and it's not exactly what you really want or what feels good…. So what now? Start dreaming of your future! That can be an extremely scary thing to do when you've already lost so much.  There are no guarantees the future won't also … Continue reading Future Dreaming vs. Daydreaming

If I had to choose the single most important thing I’ve done over the last fifteen years to move from being a hot mess with a life in pieces to where I am today, it is being present in the moment. It sounds deceptively simple and perhaps even trite. But here’s the thing, when I … Continue reading If I Had to Choose

Roughin it for a night…Don’t mind if I do, so lucky to score a room with a view😊! Well… Lei po’o = 🤷🏼‍♀️ listening to E O Mai and other such songs in the background =😊😭. Let’s see how this goes….trying to apply some of what I learned on the islands with some Portland beauty. 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽 Moving from warm paradise to a much cooler Pacific Northwest has its perks…who knew seeing that smile on Mom’s face in a dive bar playing pool on a Monday was one of them🤷🏼‍♀️😊. Love starting the mornings this way…good conversation, beautiful sunrises, and sometimes even good surfing. Your loss is valid...the emotions, feelings, experiences, regrets and the whole ball of wax that come with your loss is valid. When I reflect on my journey, here's how I experienced life following the death of my daughter. Since we'll be diggin into talking about grief and the many aspects of it this month, here are a couple of tools to access when you start to feel uncomfortable or overwhelmed. Whether you're grieving, supporting someone grieving, or follow me for any other reason...grief is part of the human experience.
